Montreal, QC – December 2, 2021 – Fuel Transport, a freight, logistics and 3PL fulfillment company with offices in Montreal, Toronto and Chicago, announces the COVID-19 Driver Appreciation Program to bolster their commitment to the well-being and safety of all employees.

The COVID-19 Driver Appreciation Program is a bonus incentive of $10,000 for all Fuel Transport drivers who have or will receive their first dose of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine before January 15th, 2022, which is the day Canadian border entry requirements change. As of January 15th, essential service providers including truck drivers will only be allowed into the country if they are fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved for entry into Canada. Similar entry requirements are expected to be put into place by the U.S. government. Fuel Transport’s proactive approach of promoting driver vaccination will protect clients, partners and consumers from potential delays at the border in order to keep goods flowing.

Motivated by a desire to say thank you and demonstrate how much it cares about frontline drivers who made sacrifices throughout the pandemic and spurred by important changes to government regulations, this incentive program reinforces the priority Fuel Transport places on COVID-19 vaccination. In the run-up to this announcement, the company recently hosted an in-house vaccine literacy event for 150 employees accompanied by a follow up virtual seminar for drivers who were on the road at the time of the event. The goal of the event was to inform and educate employees on the risks of COVID-19, as well as present research-backed information on the vaccine.

“The vaccine reward program furthers our initiative to educate and inform our valued employees about the importance of getting vaccinated,” commented Robert Piccioni, Founder and CEO of Fuel Transport. “We’re already seeing the dividends of providing quality, science-based information that helps people make better choices that will put us back on the road to normal lives.”

The $10,000 bonus incentive will be paid-out over 12-months, with drivers receiving gross payments of $833.33 less statutory deductions. The first bonus payments will be made on January 28, 2022. Successive payments will be made the last week of every month, once each driver has received their second vaccine dose. Proof of vaccination is required to maintain eligibility.
